Task
Working with two other classmates you are going
to design a game (board game, computer game, etc.) or a sport (something
people would play outside) that depends upon three aspects of Physics. The
game or sport must be enhanced and/or dependent upon three aspects of
Physics fundamentals: forces, motion, and conservation of energy and
momentum. If you want to include or substitute electricity, optics, waves,
or another aspect of physics, please ask Ms. Spilker. The players of this
game will not have to know about the physics advantage (you don’t have to
teach them Physics)! In order to prepare for Game Day, you will write a
proposal that includes mathematical and scientific explanation of the
physics-advantages including drawings and calculations, create design
drawings of any materials needed to play the game, develop a prototype,
and write directions for playing the game. You will submit the proposal
and the design drawings to me. The game/sport prototype and directions
will be used by your classmates to test the product and then on Game Day
the prototype will be used by our young guests! Lastly, since the project
is going to span 5 weeks, you will need to submit a progress-process
report before Friday, 3:45 PM, of each week.
