II、課程內容簡介:
本課程主要從人類學的角度，討論感官、身體經驗、與物質現象。傳統實證論的角度，主要將文化視為一套意義體系，透過人腦將原始感官材料活化、再現、和概念化而形成；事實上，感官經驗不僅僅是由人類生理和外在世界的實物特質決定，這些感官資料也透過文化網絡而被解讀、詮釋。因此，本課堂的閱讀討論，將重新思考感官、身體經驗、與物質現象三者的互動關係，也試圖探討不同歷史文化脈絡中的感官經驗和表達模式。尤其焦點將放在探討感知主體，以及社會與自然世界中被感知客體（物體）之間的相互建構關係；以及不同感官模式的偏向和強調，如視覺、聽覺、嗅覺、味覺、觸覺等感官能力的階層化發展，與不同歷史文化情境下社會政治安排或技術差異的關係。其中介紹的和名詞概念，除人類學領域外，也將涵蓋知覺現象、人類行為、心理、腦神經等範圍。我們分析人類經驗和知覺模式時，也應考慮不同文化體系間感官經驗和物質再現的關聯，以及文化意義建構和訊息傳遞過程中核心的感官要素。
III.課程要求：
（一）、口頭報告與問題討論：
修課同學，每堂課皆須唸完指定閱讀文章；每週由一位同學負責準備書面綱要，並做口頭報告；其餘同學準備至少二個書面問題，提出討論。
（二）、期末報告：
每位同學在本學期所討論的議題中，選擇一個自己有興趣的感官與文化關係作為主題，撰寫研究報告。1
